Publishing & Beyond

This workshop aims to prepare attendees and their projects for publication. Ideas will be explored for each project with regard to edit, sequence, book design, materials, publishing opportunities, and further possibilities. Ideally, we’d like to focus on photo projects that attendees feel are completed or nearly completed in terms of field work and the photographing phase, so they can be developed into books.

We’ll begin with artist lectures by both Matthew Genitempo and Bryan Schutmaat, followed by a presentation of Trespasser Books’ catalog and upcoming publications with a behind the scenes look to demonstrate the unique challenges of each photobook and how they were realized. Informal access to our practice will be shared through comprehensive conversation, q&a, and real-world advice.

Each student’s work will be the focus of an in-depth, two-hour critique session that will attempt to make the project ready for publication and logistics moving forward.
